Shell Helix 5 Aside Tournament was the talk of town in Gaborone as teams competed for the Grand Prize of P20000 IN CASH.

Why The Shell 5-Aside Tournament?
For the months of May to June, we had the Shell Helix Play2WinAndWin2Play campaign running with great weekly rewards given to our valued customers. To enter into the promotion, customers got to buy 1 litre or more at retail sites OR 5 litres of Helix Motor oil or more at participating spare parts shops across Botswana to be able to enter the promotion. P2500 cash prizes were given to 3 lucky winners during our weekly draws. Whereas, the fourth winner got an opportunity to build a football team to participate in the Shell Helix 5Aside Tournament.
Event Activities and Highlights
The tournament was held 9 July 2022 after the promotion came to an end 30 June 2022. Dipsy Selolwane, a famous former local professional football player was the face and facilitator of the tournament through his vast experience in football. Dipsy is a seasoned football player who has been instrumental in growing football in Botswana.
In total – 20 teams participated in the tournament from an array of our customers with three teams coming top. The tournament started off with group stages then proceeded to quarter finals – semifinals and lastly the final game to crown the winner. A long day of football coupled with product knowledge exchange, but worth every minute to our various customers. The top 3 teams walked away with a share of P35,000.00 (Winner JUMO FC: 20,000.00; Zikhale Heights took second place: P10,000.00 with the third prize going to our B2C distributor team Impex Mogoditshane FC: P5000)
Amongst the participating teams, we had some of the Shell Retail sites also participating in the tournament as well as supporters on the stands. Revelers at the tournament were also treated to a special diskie display between our very own Vivo Energy Botswana (Shell Botswana Licensee) 5Aside team and the Botswana National Team Zebras legends. Our team gave the legends a good challenge coming out as winners of the entertainment game.
